Summer Treat Boxes

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SpringCreations #CollectiveBias

Now that summer is finally here, I'm loving the fun crafts and bright colors that come with the season! I moved into a new neighborhood a few months ago and still don't know a majority of my neighbors, gifting these adorable treat boxes would be the perfect ice breaker :)

I picked up my Scotch® crafting tools at Walmart in the craft aisle, these were my tools of choice: Scotch® Brand Utility Knife, Scotch® Brand Double Sided Tape, and Scotch® Brand Magic Tape. Any craft I want to do, there is a Scotch® product to help me out!

I also snagged some Command™ Strips to re-stock my stash, I alway loving having those on hand to keep pictures secure to the wall when the decorating mood strikes. They hold strong and come off clean!

I created a few different themed treat boxes, the tutorials are all pretty similar with their own twists. I used patterns from the Silhouette Design Store, but this is an easy project you can do without the patterns!

Prep
For the actual box part of the project, cut a piece of scrapbook paper 6.5 inches long and 5 inches high. Make sure to leave a bit of length on one side to fold in and tape. Make one notch in the middle of the longer side to later pinch shut as the bottom. Below are the colors I used for the various boxes, but it's all up to your own creative preference!

Pineapple
Light yellow for box
Darker yellow for lattice
Green patterned for topper

Palm Tree
Brown for box
Green pattered for leafy portion

Hibiscus
Turquoise for box
Light pink for big flower portion
Dark pink for center
Yellow for center

Pineapple Treat Box

1. Cut out the treat box (6.5 in x 5 in with notch and extra piece for folding).

2. With the darker yellow cut out a lattice pattern for the pineapple treat box using the Scotch® Brand Utility Knife.

3. To create the box, fold in the extra piece on the edge and place a piece of Scotch® Brand Double Sided Tape.

4. Roll paper into a cone shape and seal shut with Scotch® Brand Double Sided Tape. Place a piece of double sided tape inside the bottom of the cone and pinch the bottom sides together shut.

5. I used the Scotch® Brand Double Sided Tape to tape the lattice portion to the treat box since I had it on hand, but you could also use glue.

6. Cut out a piece of green patterned paper in the shape of a pineapple topper. Then use double-sided tape to attach it inside of the box.

7. Fill box with fun fruity candies and gift to your friends!

Palm Tree Treat Box

1. Using the Scotch® Brand Utility Knife cut out a palm tree leafy top for your treat box.

2. Roll up the brown treat box into a cone shape my friends!

3. Seal with the Scotch® Brand Double Sided Tape, and pinch the bottom closed also using the tape.

4. Fill up with treats!

Hibiscus Treat Box

1. For this box, instead of folding the bottom at a point, I made it flat.

2. Use the Scotch® Brand Magic Tape to tape the bottom onto itself. Take the other flap and do the same.

3. Cut out a hibiscus flower, seal layers together using the double-sided tape, and attach to treat box.

4. Of course, fill it up with treats! :)

Creating these treat boxes was a blast and made so much easier with Scotch® Brand! Which box is your favorite? Who would you gift yours to? :)

Christmas DIY Gifts

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CraftAmazing #CollectiveBias

Making gifts for friends and family during the holidays can be affordable, and it's a fun way to give them something handmade with love. I crafted these 2 suuuuper easy DIY Christmas gift projects using the versatile Scotch® Expressions Tapes and Scotch® Create Double Sided Tape I found at Walmart in the 'Paper Crafting' aisle.

The first craft is the Washi Bow Treat Bag where I use the washi tape to create a bow for an adorable treat bag! The second craft is a Christmas tree in a frame made out of washi tape. Below are the tutorials, enjoy! :)

1// Cut 3 pieces at the above lengths
Large: 16 inches
Medium: 8 inches
Small: 1 inch

2// Fold the Large and Medium pieces in half, so no sticky is showing.

3// Fold again. Cut a notch in the Large and Medium pieces to make the center (where the fold is), narrower than the ends of the pieces.

4// Cut a "V" shape at the end of the Medium piece.

5// Open up the Large piece, and dab a hot glue gun dot in the middle. Create the "bow loop" portion by taking each end and attaching it to the adhesive.

6// Open up the Medium piece and hot glue it to the back of the Large piece.

7// Then hot glue the Small piece around the center to secure the entire bow together.

8// Glue bow to wooden clothespin.

9// Fill bag with candy, fold doily over top and secure with clothespin.

10// Now gift to your neighbor or friend!

1// Cut plain white scrapbook paper to the size of your frame, this is what you'll use to create your Christmas tree.

2// Select Scotch® Expressions Tapes for your washi tape Christmas tree. Cut at a diagonal angle and create the bones of your tree!

3// Pull up bottom piece and attach a tree trunk.

4// Place pieces of washi tape on scrap paper and use a star hole punch to punch out your tree topper. Repeat method for ornaments, holiday bells, snowflakes, etc.

5// To attach the star tree-topper use Scotch® Create Double Sided Tape.

6// Put the tree into your frame, and gift to a friend or display it in your home!

I picked up both of my Scotch® Brand goodies in the 'Paper Crafting' aisle at Walmart while I was grocery shopping, how easy! What holiday gifts will you make this season using Scotch® Expressions tape?

Adorable Christmas DIY Decorations

Here is a short list of the DIY Christmas decorations that I am dying to try!
{Of course they were all found on Pinterest, but I linked up the original sources}
These burlap stockings are adorable and it's an excuse to whip out my sewing machine :)

I have a couple of vases that need filling with some Christmas cuteness.
I am planning on picking up some paper flowers from Hobby Lobby and then filling in the arrangement  with these glitter twigs!

3. Christmas Yard Lollipops
Put a PVC pipe in the bottom, wrap with cellophane, and line your walkway or driveway with these.

This is something I've been wanting to do for forever!
The theme I go for with my Christmas decorations is a Candyland feel.
Lots of candy, bright reds, pinks, and blues all throughout the house!

Such a simple & adorable countdown to Christmas!
I would put some candies and mini presents in those 'lil packages :)

Finally, these trees are to die for.
The base is made from a cereal box!
I guess I need to start buying and eating more cereal to make these...
If you have a link to any cute & cheap Christmas DIYs, leave it in the comments!

Crafting Queen

I saw this on Pinterest roughly 2-3 months ago and was thrilled when my mom handed over a hand-me-down lamp with a heinous old lady rose lampshade.
I can totally use a butt-load of burlap & hot glue to transform this sucker!!
Well, then we decided to pack up and move which definitely put the kabosh on crafting for a while.
Which is my excuse for just now finishing the dang thing.

Ryan is still shocked/weirded out/pleasantly surprised whenever I whip up a new DIY project.
He didn't know until after we were married that I was a self-proclaimed crafting queen.
{A hobby that my mom & I share. Mostly cause she is the crafting queen and I just copy her.}
He still asks me why I never mentioned this hobby to him when we were dating.

Ummm ya, cause that wouldn't be weird or completely out of the blue while we were dating:
"Soo...I really like crafts. And burlap and hot glue and jewelry making and cross stitch and what not."
Who the crap brings that up on a first, second, or third date??
Also, when rooming with 4 other girls and having to share a bathroom, kitchen, living room, and apartment...it's a little difficult to justify taking over the whole kitchen table so I can craft up a storm.
I finished up this beaut along with decor for my sis-in-law's bridal shower, meaning that I took over the kitchen table for about a week with my craft storm & completed my projects while watching Drop Dead Diva and SYTYCD.
Ok, who else is excited about the ballroom girls from Utah on the show!? :D
Maybe I'm just a ballroom fanatic, but they are too hawt and talented for their own good!
Can't wait to see how far they get in the competition, anyone else have their favorites yet?
{Btw, I think Alexa is an amazing dancer, but I totally agree with the judges when they say it looks like she has no emotion when she dances. It's obnoxious!}

Football Eggs

First off, I want to say thank you for everyone who commented on the last post!
You are all just so freakin' sweet. I almost got a cavity!
And, it's always nice to know that you aren't the only one out there thinkin' the same thing.
So, thank you :)
....................................................................
Ryan grew up in a family of four boys, meaning that decorating for holidays was not that big of a deal.
I decorated in the small ways I could with being married/college student poor, by changing out my wreath and Rios tree ornaments.
Cutenessssssssss.

I was half tempted to steal more paint chips from Wal-Mart to do an Easter egg twine garland.
{Like I did for my heart garland at Valentines}
I felt kinda bad for takin' paint chips again...so I figured there is always next year :)
Along with not really decorating, he didn't do Easter baskets growing up, so I was STOKED to start a new tradition in our 'lil family.
I stayed up the night before, watching Say Yes to the Dress {which is on Netflix now!! SCORE}, decorating and putting together baskets.
Seeing the looks on Evan & Ryan's faces when they saw their fave candies, football eggs, cool t-shirts, and cologne made me extremely happy. That's always the best part!
{My younger brother, Evan}
{Ryan, I tried to make it less girly by using football eggs...and a football holding bunny}
{Mine}

How was your Easter?
