Workout Reverie

Today was the first day I've worked out in TWO WEEKS.
For me that is slightly unheard of.
Ok, it used to be slightly unheard of.
{Today's protein shake & workout gear}

I used the Nike Trainer app on the iphone {which is the bomb.com btw}, worked out hardcore for a half hour, then in the midst of my huffing and puffing I started to think:
"Gosh, what the heck happened?!"

Moving to a new state, college, boy woes, meeting the right boy, having melanoma surgery, re-cooping, getting married, moving to Portland, regretting Portland, moving back to Utah, moving into a new apartment, finishing school, more stress, and la di da di da.
I guess that's just life happenin', right?

All my life I've been physically active.
I've played basketball my whole life, I have always gone to the gym, for 2 years of high school I played on the Varsity Tennis team, and ballroom dance classes consumed my life during my freshmen & sophomore year of college.
{After a Samba comp. I made it to quarterfinals, dancing in the division above me! *early 2010*}

You guys didn't know that stuff huh?
I may not have been the absolute best at ballroom dancing, but gosh did I love it.
I picked up a tennis racket sophomore year of high school, tried out for the team, and made Varsity that year. {Granted we weren't that good, but hey, Varsity is still decent!}
Just thinking about dancing or playing tennis makes me happy.

Yup, at one point in my life I wasn't consumed with homework, family, life, work, sickness and chores.
And constantly having an excuse to not work out was not a common thing.
{After the Tango mock competition. *Oct 2010*}

But you know what?
I'm going to change that.
After my workout high today, I just HAVE to.
I'm tired of being achy and tired of saying "Ok, I'm going to Zumba THIS week".
Finally, I'm ready to put my body and health at the top of my priority list.

Anyone up for a tennis match this next week? ;)

Introducing...Mr. & Mrs. Peck!

I had a friend tell me it seemed like I was holding out on wedding pics...
So here you go!
Anyone out there like pretty wedding pictures??

I was a bridesmaid in my cousin Zannie's wedding.
She has this adorable shabby chic style that totally encompassed the style of her wedding.
Lots of pretty blush pinks, light grays, creams, and some dashes of teal.

Plus she is a crafting & DIY queen!
See those flower girls (my 'lil cousins) in the picture below?
Ya, Zannie and her mom sewed those flower girls dresses and the bridesmaid sashes.
Nuts right?!
Everyone patiently waiting for the newlyweds to come out of the Las Vegas LDS temple!
Introducing....
Mr. & Mrs. Peck!!!
Don't you love her Vera Wang dress??
Zan kind of reminded me of Belle, except in all white :)
Love this girl!
So happy she is now in the married club with me :)

Cute on the Cheap

First of all, I have a giveaway post on Eternal Optimist.
You totes have the choice of winning a necklace, ring, or earrings!

Second, I don't know what it is with this week...but it has just been one project after another.
Only two more weeks 'till school is done!
Can I hear a...
Hip Hip HOORAYYYY!
If you haven't noticed already, I love me some skirts & dresses.
They are classic, fit my hourglass shape, and is an insta-outfit.
Ummm, so awesome?

These are a couple of my go-to outfits:
1. Dress, sweater, necklace/earrings, flats
or
2. Blouse, skirt, flats, necklace/earrings

I just love looking & feeling feminine, but then putting on the workout clothes and gettin' sweaty :)
That's what happens when you have a family who loves sports.
Plus, growing up my parents would not let me wear all the basketball gear outside of practice, I still was required to look like a girl. At the time I was of course an angsty ticked off teen, but now I appreciate it.
Top, Skirt: Anthropologie//Necklace: H&M//Sandals: Charlotte Russe//Earring Studs: Francescas

This chunky necklace is a new addition to the jewelry collection, it's one of those trends that I thought I couldn't rock, but I sucked it up, tried it out and now I love them!
It's another insta-outfit maker.
When traversing through Ceasers Palace in Vegas this past weekend, we were walking through all the high end shops that I could never ever afford.
THEN I saw......
AHHHHHHHH!!!! (That is a chorus of angels singing btw)
The biggest, flashiest, shiniest H&M I have ever seen IN MY LIFE.
And yes, that is 3 FLOORS you see.

Umm helllll-o. My mom and I totes got some uber cute & cheap stuff.
I always forget how much I love it there.
Only because it gets to lookin' cheap sometimes, a little too F21.
You know what I mean?
Kind of how Wet Seal used to be decent clothes and now it's poop. So sad!
I'm all about a good bargain, because it IS possible to look cute on the cheap instead of looking cheaply cute!

Viva Las Vegas

The past weekend was my cousin's wedding in Las Vegas.
Ryan, Evan, and I got everything pulled together and left very early Friday morning for our 6 hour trek.
And of course I wore sweatpants, no make-up, and one of Ryan's shirts for the drive...but I didn't know that I would be wearing this heinous outfit all day long through restaurant meals, reception set-up, and the movies.
Good thing I don't care to impress anyone :)
Confession.
The first time I ever saw the "Hunger Games" movie trailer, I actually teared up.
Serious. It's ok, I know I'm a weirdo!!

Thus, I've been drooling over the movie for months.
I read all the "Hunger Games" books and absolutely loved them.
It's one of the first series in a while that I haven't been able to put the book down.
And as any book worm knows...the movie is never ever as good as the book.

I thought this one would be different though, they CAN'T mess this up!
The movie was riveting, the action, the characters were what I had imagined, the scenery, the grandeur of it all was fantastic....
BUT.
I didn't feel that same connection with the characters like I did in the book.
The characters and the story line were underdeveloped.
And for Ryan, who didn't read any of the books, had TONS of unanswered questions.
For all us "Hunger Games" readers, I think we filled in all those empty holes with the information we already knew from the book.
But for those poor people who didn't read the books, they were mega confused.

That was my only beef with the movie.
I'm really hoping that the writers & directors learn to explain some more things for the next movie, and to focus on the character development more, because we all love those sweet Katniss & Peeta scenes :)
Yet I digress from the trip!
After we got into Vegas at 11am on Friday, we set up the reception all day, finished around 7pm, my mom and I got our nails done, and we all went to see the Hunger Games movie at a 9:40pm showing.
THEN, we had the lovely pleasure of eating at the 24 hour diner in the smokey hotel casino.
Definitely a memorable experience :)
Ohhhh Vegas...
How you entertain me with your old people gambling their life savings, your smokiness that makes me go cross-eyed, and your blindingly bright lights, even at the 7-11 and In-N-out :)

2 Peas in a Pod

I've been on a blogging break because I've been with the fam, enjoying a little weekend getaway.
Zannie, one of my closest cousins/friends, got married this past weekend in Las Vegas and it was one gorgeous wedding :)

If you've been 'round these parts for a while you know who my husband Ryan is, and my brother Evan.
But since my youngest brother Jesse still lives with the 'rents, he doesn't get to star on the blog as much.
Jesse decided to take a break from being an only child and came back with Ryan, Evan & I to Provo for a few days to par-tay during his spring break.

Ummm, so fun!?
{We hit up the Nickelcade and Jesse won the 1,000 ticket jackpot, what the heck?!}

Jesse and I are 5 years apart, and we used to get in those brother/sister tiffs all the time.
My mom would always say:
"You two only fight cause you are exactly alike."
Ok mom, sure.

Let me tell you a little bit about Jesse, tell me if it sounds familiar.
He loves being the life of the party, making sarcastic comments, is cocky/confident, he has an infectious laugh, is studious, loves to meet new people and make them laugh, loves to smile, loves to read, doesn't like hard core rap but instead low key music, likes to cook, loves his sleep, and loves being in the company of his family and friends.

Ho......ly crap.
That's me.
Ahhhhhhh!
So it's pretty much really fun having someone like me around the house :)
The boys made some steak for dinner and Jesse made some delicious Spinach Artichoke dip.
A boy who loves to cook? Ya, his future wife is pretty lucky.
You're welcome.

The Story of Us: Meeting the Fam {Part 10}

For everyone who is new here, let me tell you what this whole saga is all about.
Let me first warn you though, that this is an installment that I write sporadically.
I'm not a very good at keeping a rigid blog schedule, I pretty much post things when I feel like it.

These are short 'lil installments narrating the story of how I met, fell in love, and decided to marry Ryan.
They are short & sweet with lots of pictures, and have some fun internal dialogue!

But don't fret, you can catch up!
Just head on over to "The Story of Us" tab where all the previous installments are linked :)
.........................................................................
After our Disneyland adventures, Ryan and I had a double date with one of my best friends from back home, Megan, and her boyfriend Andy.
All four of us went out to eat, laughed, and then we split up into couples and walked around the outdoor mall lit by the tiny 'lil twinkle lights.

Walking around in the starlight mall, I was starting to realize that Ryan got along with pretty much everyone in my life that was important to me.
Which was a trait that I was not particularly used to in a boyfriend.
Originally the trip down to southern California was to meet my family, for him to meet up with cousins, and for us to have a good time. I mean, we had only know each other a month and a half before this trip.
It was just for fun, right?

It definitely turned into something wayyy more than "just" a fun trip.
It was a test.
A test to see if he would fit, like a puzzle piece, into my world.
I didn't realize that this was what the trip had turned into,.
As soon as I came to this conclusion, I thought aloud to Ryan that I might have considered breaking up with him if he didn't get along with my family & friends.
If that were the case, then our relationship wouldn't be able to go much further.
I had already dealt with this kind of heartache in high school, and did not want to re-live it.

He laughed and said something cocky like the following:
"Good thing everyone just loves me right? (insert smirk)"

We were like two peas in a pod.
Both of us love being in social situations.
We're both confident, motivated, constantly progressing and improving ourselves.
And most of all, I could trust him and he could trust me.
The bestest of friends.
We ended the weekend with the family at brunch, then started our 10 hour trek back up to Provo, UT.

On the drive home, I could tell that something was on his mind.
I asked him what he was thinking about, while driving and still looking ahead he reached for my hand, intertwined his fingers with mine, and said:
"You are the girl I have always dreamed about....the girl I've always prayed for. My angel."
{All the pictures from December 2010}

He looked away from the long road ahead, and gave me a genuine, loving, and heart warming smile.
I had butterflies punching my stomach lining and a permanent smile on my face when I quietly looped my arm into his, laid my head on his buff shoulder, and gazed out the window thinking:
"He might be the one."

Wanna Get Closer to Your Hubby or BF?

Fix up the bathroom together.

Seriously!
Working together on little projects has proven to promote: conversation, your willingness to serve one another, and the overall quality of your relationship.
How cool is that?
Ryan meandered Ross with me and picked out the shower curtain, let me pick out the soap dispenser & toothbrush holder, and we decided on the rug and towel racks together!

We deep cleaned everything, drilled in the new towel racks, and installed a new faucet for the sink.
All the while we talked about life, school, each other and just random things.
When life gets busy, it's easy to forget to slow down.
Fun conversation while working together definitely made the time go by faster, and made me feel so excited to see our finished product!
{It's so shiny!}

This was a cheap & easy fix-up that makes the bathroom a nice place to relax and take a bubble bath :)
Next, we are going to conquer the office, together!

Any new projects you and the man have been wanting to work on?
Have fun!

Blind As a Bat

I have played basketball my whole life, and when I made it onto my high school freshmen basketball team I was stoked.
During summer ball my parents came to every one of my games and asked why I would always squint before passing the ball.

"Well, I can see that my teammates are in blue, and I can tell who it is by what color and how long their hair is. Then I just chuck the ball over to them!"
That's when my parents dragged me to the eye doctor.

I must have excellent basketball skills, cause I don't know how the heck I was making any shots or passes with my eyesight!
With an astigmatism in both eyes, and one eye being near sighted and the other far sighted I was still a starter on the team.
Yup, I'm a rockstar.

I didn't want to wear contacts all the time, so I had the option for glasses too.
I wish I had known about GlassesUSA.com before I bought my mega expensive frames!

GlassesUSA has this thing called a Virtual Mirror, where you can upload a picture of yourself and try out different kinds of eyeglasses, suffice if to say I got a little carried away.

So try it out for youself! It's mega easy and kinda like window shopping :)

These frames are totally cheap glasses, and easily affordable.
And if you are like me...where I've already lost one set of glasses, you don't want to be spending hundreds of dollars on a new pair.
These eyeglasses frames are high quality, 100% satisfaction guaranteed, and there is a rad refer-a-friend program. What more could you want!?
