Learning to Surf in Hanalei Bay

My first time EVER surfing was in Hanalei Bay! We had lessons by this awesome surfer dude, and it was a gorgeous day to be out in the ocean. The scenery was breathtaking :)

The first few times I got up on the surfboard too fast, and fell down. After that I listened to the instructor who kept on telling me to relaaaaxxxx, I started to get the hang of it! Nothing like learning how to surf in Kaua'i!

Poipu Beach

One of our more "relax" days we hit up Poipu beach where the water was a beautiful 3 shades of blue and there was this fun rock jetty going out into the ocean. I ordered this romper from Asos and it was one of my favorite vacation purchases. I wore it ALL the time during the trip! It was flowy, lightweight, and I could throw it on over a swimsuit and go out to eat.

Another favorite that I picked up for Hawaii were my Rainbow sandals. I've never owned a pair before, which is shocking since practically everyone in my high school had some. I got mine from Flip Flop Shops in the Fashion Place Mall in Murray, UT where they had a ton of options.

It took me a while to break them in, but once I did they were amazing! They can withstand all the wear and tear from sweat, sand, ocean, water, climbing on rocks, and everything else I put them through. Gosh, these pictures make me want to hop another plane right back there! :)

Touring Hanalei

We stayed in Princeville during our stay on the island of Kaua'i, and it was gorgeous. We frequented a town nearby, Hanalei, for shopping and local cuisine. We tried out this awesome chicken wings place and a burger shack...just thinking about it makes me drool :)

These Flor de Luz dresses are the perfect dresses because they double as a swim cover-up and a dress to wear for a night out on the town. They are super cute and comfy! I brought a couple of these dresses on my trip and they were worn many times throughout the vacation :)

The Root

I found this dress at a boutique in Hanalei called The Root. It was this hole-in-the-wall place with the cutest pieces! I found this dress, tried it on and felt like a boho goddess with all the ruching and flowy fabric. It wasn't until I took it to the cash register that I noticed it was the Free People brand. Props to The Root!

I am always drawn to earthy jewelry, and these geode earrings were no exception. I also found these in Hanalei, just a couple store fronts down from The Root. This boutique was a very hippie-dippy place, with kits on how to center your chakras with some crystals and stones. It was all very interesting :) I found these earrings and knew they would become one of my favorite Hawaii souvenirs!

Creamy Cover-Up

This crepe dress served as an awesome cover-up/dress piece for when we would hit the beach then go out to eat! These pictures were taken in the little town of Hanalei, which was close to where we were staying in Princeville.

I went a little all out with my jewelry when we went out this night to grab some food and shop, I wish I had a Fresh Trends CZ bangle to layer with my Candles and Confetti druzy bracelet! I'm not usually one to wear a lot of rings, but it's vacation so why the heck not :)

Isn't this aztec-print clutch the CUTEST THING EVER?! It's gonna go with all my fun summer looks for all the dates I'm going to plan and my husband will take me out on haha! Also, excuse the sunburn on my arms. I was working so hard on lathering on the sunscreen but then I got scorched on our zipline adventure! At least I got a little tan by the end of my trip :)

Luau Festive

This is the outfit I wore when exploring the PCC! I loved wearing my happy yellow Flor de Luz blouse because it's comfortable, festive, and hid that luau food baby after eating all that delicious taro island bread pudding :)

I picked up this purse/backpack from Target right before we flew to Hawaii because I didn't want to lug around a heavy purse the entire trip. This backpack was the right size to hold everything I needed, but made me edit what I really needed to lug around. Plus hot pink? Legit.

Isn't the handmade embroidery to die for on this blouse?! Also, I didn't wear much jewelry most of the trip besides some simple bangles and necklace. It added that extra glitz, but wasn't too heavy or in the way!

Jesse's Birthday & PCC

Our second day in Oahu was Jesse's 19th birthday! Last time we were in Hawaii (10+ years ago), it was also during Jesse's birthday, lucky duck! We stopped by the well-known Hukilau Cafe in Laie for some bomb pancakes. Coconut, macadamia nut, blueberry...yummmm.

We walked around the Laie temple grounds and it was BEAUTIFUL. They had just finished some reconstruction in the main grounds area, and it was gorgeous.

Most of our day was spent at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie. We had the best tour guide, our family friend Brother Hanneman who helped make the PCC what it is today! He is in his late 80's and was speed walking around the entire PCC to make sure we got to all the shows on time and got the best seats. He was a complete hoot!

We made it to almost all the shows, then we went to a luau to eat some awesome food! I really came to love taro bread...and taro island bread pudding? AMAZING. After the luau we went to the night show at the PCC which was so fun to watch! It was one jam-packed awesome day :)
