The Story of Us: First Dates vs. Friend Dates {Part 4}

First of all, I will get back to doing outfit posts soon!
Between my crazy training and hectic school schedules, it's been hard to fit it in.
But I promise I've been lookin' cute.
Fo sho.

Above are links to the first three parts to get you all caught up!
.......................................................

Hmmmm, where did we leave off? Ah yes, the date asking.

He had asked if I wanted to go out and get some food together.
Ok. This is where it gets a taddd tricky.
Tricky because I used to go on "friend dates" with my guy bff's all the time.
{Aka my bff Sterling Randle. He is on an LDS mission in Texas. One more year!}
{Ster & I at a school dance Freshmen summer at BYU. Almost three years ago!!!}

We would go out together, eat a meal, pay for ourselves, sometimes cover for each other, and just truly enjoy each others company. Seeing as how I have had so many best friends that are also guys, I never thought this was a weird/different concept.

This is what happened Thursday. November 4, 2010.

Ryan picks me up cause my car is dead, and says that we should go out to get sushi because he is positively famished and whithering away to nothingness.
{Ok, I took some creative license on that last line.}

Me:
"Don't most sushi places close in the middle of the day to get ready for dinner?"

Ryan:
"No...I don't think so. I'm pretttty sure they are open, I've been here before at this time."

Me:
"Oh, are you sure?...{razzin' him}

We show up and guess what?
I'm right.
Score for Bri.
I then suggest Tucanos, a nice and kinda expensive Brazilian steakhouse in Utah.
And no I was not being a gold digger, just sounded good ok!
If you've had their Top Sirloin or Glazed Pineapple you would suggest it to.

We head over there, sit down, and start a conversation.
Keep in mind that I was still thinking he was a tool up until this point.
Nothing had really proved me wrong yet, until this first date.

Well, for starters...
 We sat in a really nice restaurant, in the middle of the day, and are having a nice conversation.
Is that the makings of a sleezy date? NO. It sure the heck isn't.
I started to feel kinda like a poop in the midst of realizing this.

We got to talking and just the weirdest thing happened.
Everything just...clicked.
He divulged some personal stories and I felt comfortable enough with him to reciprocate.
I felt like I had known him for years and we were just reconnecting after such a long time apart.
We talked about school, life, family, trials, likes, and dislikes.
I acted my complete utter self around him.
No filters.

It was all amazing and wonderful and lovely.....
'til the bill came.

He grabbed the bill right away and paid for me.
I'm sure for many of you are thinking:
"What the heck is your problem Bri? He is paying for you, so what?"

Well. I'll tell you a lil somethin' about myself....I'm not really the "flirty" type.
And most of the time on first dates I'm not really my complete self.
Not that I change myself, just a 'lil more toned down version!
With Ryan I was so comfortable with him from the get-go that it was almost scary.
And I was my complete self cause I thought it was one of those "Friend Dates".
So when he grabbed the bill I start thinking:
"Oh crap. This was a real date. He suckered me into a freaking DATE."

I had thought we were just two friends going out for food.
Silly me. I saw the way he was sneaking looks at me.
I looked like a FOX in my sundress.
He wouldn't be content being  just my friend!

So on the car ride home I was...quiet.
A toned down version of myself.
And I could totally tell that Ryan was thinking:
"What the heck is going on with her?..."

He dropped me off, gave me a quick hug, and then I walked inside.
What the heck just happened?!
I felt like I had just been in this whirlwind.
Everything just happened wayyy to perfect to be realistic.
WHAT IS GOING ON?!
{Definitely one of the most embarrassing/hilarious of our engagement pics}

Then I made this face.
Bahaha! Kidding. Thought you would like that though.

I ending up trying to put it out of my head, because I was partly confused and was kinda in shock because of what had just happened.
So, I brushed it off, and went on with the rest of my day.
Logical thing to do, right?
