{As Time Goes By-Billie Holiday}

I started to fall in love with oldies music back in high school, when I took a Music of the 20th Century class and between all the hideous chanting and Bob Dylan stuff there was something that I could relate to. Oh Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Chubby Checker, Buddy Holly, Etta James, and Eartha Kitt how you speak to my old soul. I love the 50's style dresses, swing dancing, jazzy music, how curvy figures were popular, and how proper people were back in those days.
I absolutely love to sing. Especially the jazzy stuff. The lyrics are simplistic, the melodies eloquent, and the voices unique. Though these songs are simplistic, they are able to get the point across through the different voices of that era. I miss those days. Even though I wasn't a part of them, I long for those days of truly beautiful music and artists.

On a slightly different note, if you guys haven't been following my blog for long, I'll tell you that I just turned 20 and Ryan 25 {I love birthdays!}. My dad keeps saying how he doesn't feel old until he realizes what age I am. Dad keeps reminding me how fast the time goes by and to remember to stop and smell the roses along the journey of life. To look at the big picture. To invest time into our family and friends, cause that's what it's all about in the end.
{Then, how Dad remembers me sometimes}
{Now, taken Christmas 2010}

Ok ok, I'm still a princess, even without the crown or scepter.
